Well, on top of the roof of the Bristol University physics department, which is a pretty tall building on top of a pretty tall hill. This afternoon I managed to get access to go up there with some colleagues. Unfortunately I’d just finished a roll of film in my SLR, but I managed to borrowContinue reading “On top of the world”

Box camera
This morning was a very foggy one across Bristol, so I decided to take my camera to work and find something for this week’s Photo Challenge – framing your photos with a box. So you’ll understand why these photos are all taken through a cardboard box! Fog is my favourite weather – mainly because ofContinue reading “Box camera”
The benefits of film photography
In today’s day and age of convenience, you might ask why bother using film to take photographs? After all, a digital camera is cheap and easy. You can take hundreds of photos of anything you like. My work on display
Recently I was asked to select some of my photos so they could be framed and displayed in a new meeting room at work. I chose a night-time shot of Oslo, a snap of the new centenary sculpture, and a photo of traffic outside the Victoria Rooms in Clifton. And here’s what they look likeContinue reading “My work on display”
Love lost
This week’s Photo Challenge was a thousand words. I tried to capture the feeling of a row between a couple, and one member of the couple storming off in the car, running over the roses they had just been given.
The daily grind
It’s my birthday today, and Hannah bought me a Whittard of Chelsea coffee grinder. Needless to say, it grinds up beans and makes good coffee, but I also like the look of it. The base reminds me of a plinth that a statue might stand upon.
