A visit to the Eden Project
This weekend, Hannah and I went to visit the Eden Project. I went when it first opened (but was not yet completed), so it was hugely different this time. There’s a reasonably predictable selection of flowers and plants here, as well as some photos of the waterfalls. I don’t know what any of these plantsContinue reading “A visit to the Eden Project”
Pumpkin
We carved a pumpkin for Hallowe’en this year. It looks even scarier out of focus.
Oldbury Court weir
This afternoon I took a walk to the weir in Oldbury Court Estate. I particularly like the second photo here – it’s very serene.
Red heart
I’ve been ill for a couple of days, but today I managed to find the strength to lift this extremely heavy red filter onto this book. It’s an idea I’ve been meaning to try for a few months.
A weekend in Center Parcs
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, I visited the Sherwood Forest Center Parcs with Hannah and my family. As usual, I took at least one camera. I decided to take my trusty DSLR, as well a newly-bought waterproof 35mm camera, as we were intending to go swimming and canoeing. I shall try to piece my holidayContinue reading “A weekend in Center Parcs”
An afternoon on the beach

The photos on this page are from my (digital) Canon EOS 450D, because I haven’t yet used up and processedContinue reading “An afternoon on the beach”
Clifton Observatory
Yesterday I shot a panorama of the view from the garden around the Clifton Observatory. It’s quite a pleasant view, but it’s a shame that the suspension bridge and the observatory aren’t the same height.
Architecture through a fisheye
This week’s Photo Challenge is architecture. I want my photo to be a little bit different from everyone else’s so I decided to use my fisheye lens. Building almost always have straight edges, so a curved and distorted lens can really make things interesting. One of the criteria of this Challenge is to take onlyContinue reading “Architecture through a fisheye”
Forced perspective
This week’s Photo Challenge was on the theme of Perspective. Perspective. Think about the appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer. For example objects nearer to the viewer appear bigger than objects which are far away, and straight lines leading away from the viewer (such as roads)Continue reading “Forced perspective”
